✨ The Story Behind Insomnia

“Insomnia” was written during one of the hardest seasons of my life.

Back in 2015, I struggled with severe insomnia for years. Whenever stress took over, sleep would disappear completely. Some nights I would lie awake until 5 or 6 in the morning, exhausted, anxious, and feeling completely alone while the rest of the world slept.

One sleepless night, I picked up my guitar and wrote this song.

The lyrics came out almost exactly as they were lived, the racing thoughts, the frustration, the fear of going to bed knowing sleep might never come, and the quiet ways we try to cope just to make it through another night.

At the time, I never imagined I would release it publicly. It felt too personal.

But shortly after writing it, I realised something had to change. I stopped relying on wine to get through the nights and began a journey of self-healing through hypnosis and natural techniques. Slowly, things changed. Over time, I completely overcame the insomnia that had controlled my life for so long.

Now, almost ten years later, I’m finally ready to share this song.

Not from a place of struggle anymore, but from the other side of it.

“Insomnia” captures exactly how those nights felt, raw, honest, exhausted, and vulnerable, and maybe that’s why I held onto it for so long. But I also know so many people silently fight the same battle, lying awake while the world around them rests.

If this song makes someone feel understood, then it was worth finally letting it go.

Curator Feedback Highlights "My Forever”

Where stories turn into songs

Song writing has always felt like home to me, a quiet place where melodies arrive out of nowhere, often at the most ordinary moments… driving the kids to school, walking by the sea, or sitting in my little music shed with a cup of tea. My songs usually begin as a feeling before they ever become words: something tender, something true, something that needs space to breathe.

My writing leans into honesty and emotional connection. I love exploring the quiet moments we don’t always talk about, the stories we carry, the things we wish we had said, the ache of being misunderstood, the softness of starting again. My music is rooted in acoustic singer-songwriter storytelling, with gentle guitar, warm vocals and a sense of intimacy that makes every song feel like it’s being sung just for one person.

I don’t write to impress;
I write to connect.
To make people feel understood.
To offer a soft place to land.
I write to be real.

If my songs make someone feel seen, comforted, or a little less alone, then they’ve done their job.

Since releasing my debut single “Gossip”, I’ve continued to turn the experiences, relationships and moments that have shaped me into songs. From the quiet hurt of judgement in Gossip, to the tenderness of motherhood in Little Soul, the promises of My Forever, and the changing distance between two people in I Hardly Know You, each song carries its own story.

And there are many more stories still to come.

My next chapter is already taking shape with “Insomnia”, a deeply personal song about the years I spent struggling with severe insomnia and what it feels like to finally look back on that experience from the other side.

Thank you for listening, for feeling, and for being part of this original music journey with me. 💛

Songwriting Stories

Gossip

Sometimes songs arrive in the most unexpected moments. I was driving one day when a little melody popped into my head..

Little Soul

Little Soul is a love song for my daughter. It came from reflecting on our journey together and how becoming a mother changed…

My Forever

My Forever is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever shared, because it didn’t begin as a song at all.
Nine years ago, I stood in front of my husband on our wedding day and sang my vows to him.

I Hardly Know You

Some songs don’t start with a plan… they just arrive.

This one came to me late at night, driving home from a gig. I had just finished a conversation that left me sitting in a strange kind of silence. Nothing was wrong, but something didn’t feel right either… and I couldn’t quite shake that feeling.

✨ The Story Behind Gossip

Sometimes songs arrive in the most unexpected moments. I was driving one day when a little melody popped into my head, it was catchy, playful, and full of rhythm. Along with it, the very first two lines of the song tumbled out of my mouth, almost as if they’d been waiting for me.

I couldn’t stop humming it, so I grabbed my phone, recorded a quick voice memo, and let it sit there for a while. A few weeks later, I listened back and thought: what was it that wanted to be said that day? What story was hiding inside this tune?

That’s when the idea of “Gossip” was born.

I picked up my guitar, shaped chords around the melody, and slowly the chorus and the rest of the lyrics came together. What started as a fleeting idea in the car grew into a song that explores how gossip slips into our lives, how it affects us, and how we can find our own voice beyond it.

This song feels special to me because it arrived so naturally and I can’t wait to share it with you finally.

✨ The Story Behind Little Soul

Little Soul is a love song, first and foremost, written for my daughter.
It came from a place that only opened once I became a mother, that quiet moment when life rearranges itself and everything you thought mattered shifts into a new order.

The chorus came first, unannounced and complete, and in that moment I knew exactly who I was writing for and what I wanted her to carry with her through life.

The verses reflect our journey together: the tenderness, the learning, and the way motherhood stretches you open and reshapes you without asking permission. The song begins softly, because that’s how love starts, quietly and intimately and builds as understanding deepens.

In the bridge, the song widens beyond one relationship. Becoming a mother gave me a new clarity about life itself and what truly lasts.

Musically, Little Soul mirrors that gradual unfolding. Layers are added gently, two guitars, percussion, and harmonies, building toward a fuller emotional peak. Each element arrives when it’s needed, just like the journey into motherhood.

At its heart, Little Soul is about love that teaches you who you are.
About the quiet strength in caring deeply.
And about how, sometimes, it’s through loving someone else that you finally understand what life is really about.

✨ The Story Behind My Forever

My Forever is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever shared, because it didn’t begin as a song at all.

Nine years ago, I stood in front of my husband on our wedding day and sang my vows to him. Completely a cappella. No backing, no safety net, just my voice and the words I wanted to promise him for life.

What most people didn’t know at that moment was that I was actually quite unwell that day. But something in me knew… this mattered too much not to sing it. So I did, imperfect, emotional, but completely real.

Those words stayed with me over the years. They weren’t just lyrics; they were lived. Through life changes, uncertainty, growth, and everything in between, they kept unfolding their meaning.

For a long time, I carried the idea of turning those vows into a full song, one that truly sounds the way it felt in my heart back then.
Now, I’ve finally done it.

I’ve gently refined some of the lines, shaped the structure, and recorded it in a way that allows the emotion to breathe, the way I always wished I could have sung it on that day.

My Forever is a promise, a journey, and a reflection of a love that has grown stronger over time.

It’s about choosing each other, not just in a moment, but again and again.

This song is not just part of my story.
It is my story. 🤍

✨ The Story Behind I Hardly Know You

Some songs don’t start with a plan… they just arrive.

This one came to me late at night, driving home from a gig. I had just finished a conversation that left me sitting in a strange kind of silence. Nothing was wrong, but something didn’t feel right either… and I couldn’t quite shake that feeling.

And then it just came.

The first verse, the chorus, the melody, it came all at once, like it had been waiting for that exact moment.

I remember recording it straight into my phone, not wanting to lose anything. It felt so raw and honest, I didn’t want to overthink it.

In the days that followed, I sat with it. Gently adding the other verses, shaping the story, trying to understand what I had felt so deeply in that moment.

This song lives in that quiet space where closeness begins to shift.

When someone who once felt so familiar… suddenly feels far away.

When conversations change, and you find yourself wondering when things became different.

It’s not about blame.

It’s about that tender, confusing feeling of still caring deeply… even when things don’t feel the same anymore.

Because sometimes love doesn’t disappear.

It just changes shape.

And even in the distance, there can still be a place in your heart that stays open.

This song feels like another chapter in my journey of writing about connection in all its different forms.
