A few words about my songwriting journey
Songwriting has always been my way of making sense of the world. Over the years, my songs have become quieter, more honest, and more rooted in lived experience. I’m less interested in writing something clever and more drawn to writing something true.
My musical style lives somewhere between acoustic pop and singer-songwriter storytelling, warm vocals, gentle guitar textures, and arrangements that leave space for emotion to breathe. I love songs that unfold slowly, that don’t rush their meaning, and that feel intimate even when they grow in intensity.
Becoming a mother changed not only my life, but also the way I write. It softened some edges and sharpened others. It gave me a deeper sensitivity to presence, vulnerability, and the small moments that carry the most weight. Little Soul grew directly from that shift.
The story behind Little Soul
Little Soul is a love song, first and foremost, written for my daughter. It came from a place that only opened once I became a mother, that quiet moment where life rearranges itself and everything you once thought mattered shifts into a new order.
The chorus arrived fully formed, and with it the certainty of who the song was for. I didn’t search for a concept, I simply asked myself what I wanted her to know now, and one day when she’s older.
The verses reflect our journey together: the tenderness, the learning, and the way motherhood stretches you open and reshapes you without asking permission. The song begins softly, because that’s how love starts, quietly and intimately and it builds as understanding deepens.
In the bridge, the song widens beyond one relationship. Becoming a mother gave me a new clarity about life itself and about what truly lasts – and that realisation needed space in the song too.
Musically, Little Soul mirrors that gradual unfolding. Layers are added gently, guitars, percussion, and harmonies, building toward a fuller emotional peak. Nothing is rushed. Each element arrives when it’s needed, just as the journey into motherhood does.
At its heart, Little Soul is about love that teaches you who you are.
About the quiet strength in caring deeply.
And about how, sometimes, it’s through loving someone else that you finally understand what life is really about.
