I Hardly Know You Is Out Now 🤍
Today I’m so excited (and a little nervous!) to finally share my fourth original single, I Hardly Know You, with the world.
This song has been incredibly special to me from the moment it arrived.
Unlike many of my songs, which take time to develop, I Hardly Know You came almost all at once. Driving home from a gig one evening, the first verse, chorus, and melody simply appeared. I quickly recorded the idea on my phone, knowing it was one of those moments that couldn’t wait until I got home.
Over the following days, I carefully built the rest of the song around that first spark of inspiration, trying to stay true to the emotion that had inspired it.
At its heart, I Hardly Know You is about something many of us experience throughout our lives: the quiet distance that can grow between people who were once incredibly close.
It’s about relationships changing.
About wondering how someone who once knew everything about you can suddenly feel like a stranger.
But it’s also about holding onto compassion, memories, and the hope that, even when life changes, there can still be a place in your heart for someone.
Musically, I wanted this song to feel as honest as the lyrics. It begins with a simple fingerpicked acoustic guitar and an intimate vocal, before gradually growing in emotion as the story unfolds. Rather than trying to make it bigger, I wanted it to feel real.
Every song I release becomes another chapter in my journey as a songwriter.
After Gossip, Little Soul, and My Forever, I’m so proud to finally share I Hardly Know You with you.
