Creating My Own Music Studio

From Dream to Reality: Creating My Own Music Studio

There’s something incredibly powerful about having a space that’s fully your own — a space that inspires creativity, fosters growth, and feels like an extension of your soul. After years of dreaming, planning, and patiently waiting, I’m beyond excited to finally share that I’ve built my own music studio right here in my backyard. My music shed isn’t just a shed — it’s a place where music, teaching, and creativity all come together.
Building my own music studio was never just about the physical space. It was about carving out a sanctuary for sound. As a singing teacher and performing artist, I’ve spent years adapting to borrowed spaces — living rooms, community halls, noisy corners, and wherever else music could find a moment to exist. But I always held onto the dream of having a dedicated space where I could fully step into my craft, without distractions or limitations.
Now, that dream has become a tangible, functional, and inspiring reality.

Why a Music Shed?

I chose a shed because I loved the idea of something small, intimate, and separate from the main house — somewhere I could step into and immediately shift into a creative mindset. It’s not just about the size, but about having clear boundaries. When I walk into this space, I’m entering a world of music, learning, and artistic freedom.

The process of building it was as personal as it was practical. I worked closely with local tradespeople to make sure every detail aligned with how I work and teach. Sound insulation was a big priority — not just for quality recording, but for creating a quiet, focused environment. Natural light was another must-have. I wanted a bright, welcoming atmosphere that would feel energising all year round.

The Corners of Creativity

My own music studio is divided into a few special zones that serve the different aspects of my musical life. First, there’s the teaching corner. This is where I welcome students of all ages for one-on-one singing lessons. It’s equipped with a high-quality digital piano, a mirror for posture work, and a comfortable setup that makes students feel at ease while we work on vocal technique, expression, and confidence.
Then there’s the recording corner — my little technological haven. With a professional microphone setup, audio interface, and sound-treated walls, I finally have a space to record high-quality vocals without background noise or interruptions. It’s been a total game changer for sharing my own music online and working on original songs.
And finally, there’s the creative nook — my spot for song writing, planning workshops, and simply getting lost in inspiration. With my notebooks, candles, mood lighting, and a guitar always within reach, it’s a corner that holds space for the quiet magic that often sparks new music.

A Space to Grow

More than anything, my own music studio has become a symbol of growth — as a musician, a teacher, and a woman balancing creativity with everyday life. It’s a space where I get to support others in their vocal journeys while continuing to evolve my own.
Having this space has already impacted the way I work. Lessons feel more focused, students feel more at home, and I feel more grounded in what I do. There’s something deeply empowering about having a space that reflects who you are and supports who you’re becoming.

Looking Ahead

This is just the beginning. I have big dreams for this little shed. From recording original songs and voice reels, to hosting small vocal workshops and collaborative sessions with fellow creatives, there’s so much on the horizon. And the best part is — I don’t need to leave home to do it.

I’m so grateful to finally say that I have my own music studio. It’s been a long time coming, but every moment spent creating this space has been worth it. I can’t wait to welcome more voices into this studio and continue building a life around the thing I love most: music.

If you’re curious to see inside or interested in lessons, recording, or creative collaboration — don’t hesitate to reach out. My own music studio doors (and heart) are open.
